Youth Thai-American/Canadian Science Ambassador Program

Office of Science and Technology, Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C. is pleased to announced “Youth Thai-American/Canadian Science Ambassador Program 2017.” The program, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Kingdom of Thailand, provides opportunities for 4 Thai-American/Canadian students who are currently in high schools and accredited colleges to travel to Thailand during August 13, 2017 – August 23, 2017 to visit diverse government agencies and private companies that are in the forefront of scientific and technology R&D in Thailand. Participants will meet leadership teams, scientists, policy makers and researchers from each agency to learn about their roles and responsibilities in enhancing Thailand’s competitiveness in science and technology in science-driven world. In addition, participants will have opportunities to explore landmarks and historic sites in the capital of Thailand and absorb Thai cultures and values. The program would also benefit Thailand, United States, and Canada by promoting understanding of Thailand’s science and technology among second-generation Thais who may potentially join U.S./Canada scientific community in the future.

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in high school or college located in the U.S./Canada
    • Strong interest in science and technology
    • Thai-U.S./Canadian citizen or permanent resident (A person who was born to a father or a mother of Thai nationality)
    • Age of 15 – 20 year
    • Leadership ability and good interpersonal skills


All expenses including a round-trip ticket (based on the average price of a round-trip ticket between Dulles Int’l Airport (IAD) Washington D.C. USA– Suvarnabhumi Int’l Airport (BKK) Thailand), local traveling, accommodation, meals, and activities as identified in the program agenda will be paid for by Office of Science and Technology, Royal Thai Embassy. Participants are responsible for their own personal expenses and travel accident insurance (required).

  • Letter of consent for travel of a minor child form
  • A copy of most recent transcript
  • A copy of ID, passport, green card, or other official document as proof of US/Canadian Citizenship or permanent resident
  • A copy of parent’s ID, passport or any official document as proof of Thai citizenship of the candidate’s parent (s)
  • (Optional) A copy/copies of academic award(s) received

Selection Process

Applicants who follow application instruction and meet the deadline will be considered on applicant’s accomplishments and ability to succeed in an academic, especially in science and technology fields (for example, has high GPA in science subjects, has taken additional science courses, has demonstrated the ability to lead and be responsible, etc.)
