Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa organizes the Amazing Thailand festival
On Friday, 28 July 2017, the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa organized the Amazing Thailand festival at the Horticulture Building, Lansdowne Park, in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, and as part of Ottawa 2017’s “Ottawa Welcomes the World” series.
During the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Canada, gave welcoming remarks, paying tribute to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 65th birthday anniversary on 28 July 2017 as well as highlighting the significance of this festival.

Among the many distinguished guests in attendance at the festival were Mayor of Ottawa, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the friends of Thailand, and members of the Thai and Canadian communities who also paid their respects to His Majesty the King in a book of well-wishes.
Throughout the day, visitors were able to experience various aspects of Thai culture through live cultural performances by the Thai Dance Troupe of Ottawa and the N-1 Thai Boxing Academy, authentic Thai cuisine from local Thai restaurants, Thai handicrafts from local Thai businesses, and cultural showcases by the professors of Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, the Thai Association of Ottawa, and Congrès des bénévoles Thaïlandais du Québec.
The festival was also held in collaboration with Team Thailand in Canada, which provided information on Thai tourism, trade, investment, and agriculture. Approximately 3,000 visitors from all walks of life came to enjoy the festival, including children, who had a chance to learn more about Thai culture at the Kids’ corner supervised by the Children’s Bridge Foundation.
