Ambassador Vijavat attends Experience Asia festival at Gatineau City Hall
On 13 May 2017, His Excellency Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, attended the Experience Asia festival at Gatineau City Hall organized by the City of Gatineau, in collaboration with the Asian communities led by Ms. Sukijja “Kai” Whitcomb, Director and Founder of the Thai Dance Troupe of Ottawa (TDO), to celebrate Asian Heritage Month and Canada’s 150th birthday.
The event was attended by many distinguished guests, including Mr. Greg Fergus, Member of Parliament for Hull—Aylmer; Ms. Mireille Apollon, Deputy Mayor and City Councillor for Gatineau; Heads of the diplomatic missions from Indonesia, South Korea, and Turkey; as well as the Vice Consul of the Philippines, and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Throughout the festival, visitors had an opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of the Asian heritage through food, handicrafts, and cultural performances. In terms of Thailand’s participation, there were a number of booths featuring Thai cuisine, umbrella painting, and Thai massage. There was also a Thai dance performance by the TDO. The event not only showcased the exuberance of Asian culture but also reflected a sense of unity and strong collaboration between the Asian communities in Canada.
